AAIDN x NYU Scholarship!
The African American Irish Diaspora Network is offering a scholarship (AAIDN Scholarship) of $10,000 to support tuition costs for one graduate student towards earning a master’s degree in Irish and Irish-American Studies from New York University (NYU) through NYU’s Glucksman Ireland House (GIH). The student must have an undergraduate concentration in fields of study of History, Political Science, or Sociology, with a focus on the social justice, political, or cultural relationships between African Americans and Ireland, or the historic relationship between Ireland and Africa, or the Irish and African diasporas. The student will be selected from applicants who apply for admission to NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences for the academic year beginning in the fall of 2026.
NYU will match the AAIDN Scholarship in the amount of $10,000. The total amount of financial support the student will receive through this initiative will be $20,000.
The AAIDN scholarship is open to all students applying in the specified fields, and students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities are particularly encouraged to explore this area of focus on the connection between African Americans and Ireland.
"In Glucksman Ireland House, we have long been committed to exploring the histories of the African and Irish diasporas, and the connections between African Americans and Ireland," said the director of the House, Professor Kevin Kenny, a specialist in the history of migration. "Through this generous and imaginative initiative by the AAIDN, we now have the opportunity to build on that tradition in exciting new directions."
