Education

AAIDN has established landmark collaborations linking Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with leading Irish institutions. Highlights include:

  • A partnership between University College Dublin (UCD) Smurfit Business School and Howard University offering graduate scholarships

  • A collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast for scholarships and exchanges

  • A scholarship initiative with Sacred Heart University for study abroad opportunities at its campus in Dingle, Ireland

  • Additional partnerships in development with universities in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the US

In addition, AAIDN provides summer internship programs:

  • Frederick Douglass-Daniel O’Connell Global Internship-- In partnership with CIEE (Council for International Education Exchange), the John and Lillan Miles Lewis Foundation and Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs, this program provides two-month summer work internships for a diverse group of American college students

  • CIE Tours Internships-- AAIDN has partnered with CIE Tours, the national tourism agency of Ireland, to provide 3-4 summer internships each year for college students to work at CIE Tours US Headquarters in the US in areas including bookings, marketing, computer science, and finance
